Interuniversity Chair
In the early 2000s, the Marie-Vincent Foundation initiated various research projects targeting the problem of child sexual abuse. Among other things, the studies showed services in this regard for victims 12 years and younger to be in short supply and of limited scope.
In the aim of offering specialized, integrated services adapted to the needs of sexually abused children and their families, the Centre d’expertise Marie-Vincent and the Chaire interuniversitaire sur les agression sexuelles envers les enfants were created in 2005.

Since then, the Chaire has handled research activities for the Centre d’expertise Marie-Vincent geared toward the common goal of developing cutting-edge expertise in Quebec in screening and treating children age 12 and younger for sexual abuse.
The Centre’s clients contribute to the advancement of knowledge by participating in the Chaire’s research activities within the framework of the various services they receive. This is done in a context that is at once professional and mindful of their specific needs. The collaboration between the Chaire and the Centre is absolutely essential to the development of scientific expertise in the area of child sexual abuse.
Chaire’s mission: to develop state-of-the-art scientific knowledge of child sexual abuse.
